Tomb Crew – NLLR Mixtape!!

TombCrew
Tomb Crew at Trouble & Bass, NYC

Known to wreak extreme havoc, tearing the roof off everywhere they go and consistently playing bass heavy records – sometimes breaking out jungle classics, Tomb Crew, are showin up and reppin it hard!!!! The boys have smashed it with their latest mix for No Love Lost Records, featuring a little bit of Wiley, DTL, Rusko, Hostage, Tubbs, Dizzee, even A Tribe Called Quest. This one is massive!!!! Check ‘em out at their blogggggg whitekidsgotdrama and their MySpace for more mixes!!!!

“London’s rising stars, TOMB CREW, bring the noise and no mistake. Their bottomless box of Dubstep, Grime, Fidget, Drum N Bass and Bmore is borderline madness and a formidable dance floor beast in their very capable tag-teaming DJ hands. At their recent New York debut, the crew had an admittedly tall-order when they had to follow an insanely tight and well received set by the mighty RUSKO, but within fifteen minutes they had skillfully reduced a roomful of Funktion One shaken music lovers to sweaty, smiling puddles. Their mix for No Love Lost perfectly captures their über finger-on-the-pulse sound, minus their machine gun tongued live MC, B.B. MANIK. Get out there and see TOMB CREW in person if you can, it’s not difficult to catch them somewhere as they apparently don’t know how to take a night off.” – Lee, NLLR

Impakt – U Can’t Stop This!

Impakt

These days it’s either heavy bass or bands. I’m back and forth between rough, slow. Hmm. Yeah right, so here’s a slammin mix by Impakt who comes to us from the croissant lovin’ land of France. With all that comes in, I rarely have time to listen to a full on mix these days. But with a tracklist that begins with Tomb Crew, I make the effort! Wiley’s “Wearing My Rolex” (Pirate Soundsystem Bassline Mix) is in there, which I love, ending with Rusko’s, “Cockney Thug” (Drum of Death Baltimore Mix), that will get you to wake you the f*ck! up! Basically, if you like Bassline, you’re ears will surely be pleased.

DJ Yoda FABRICLIVE.39 RADIOMIX

DJ Yoda as an offensive bear!

There are few people in the world who haven’t heard of DJ Yoda so it almost seems silly to do the whole Charles Dickens thing on this boy.

DJ Yoda, British turntablist with a penchant for mashing up the musical genres on his hugely famous mixtapes (How to Cut & Paste Mix Tape Vol.1, The Amazing Adventures of DJ Yoda ), has turned his hand to the FabricLive series.

DJ Yoda says:

“This mix is unique for me. After all these years and all the mixes I’ve done, this is the first mix that’s actually representative of what I do in a club. As much as the ‘How To Cut & Paste’ mixes represent my style, the fabric mix is the first time you’ll hear what I sound like in a club, as opposed to me sitting at home in my bedroom fiddling around with tiny pieces of music. It’s music you can dance to.”

Yoda’s FabricLive mix includes lots of nice hiphop, drum n bass and grime, but isn’t afraid to tackle Violent Femmes, The Coral and MInnie Riperton’s oh-so-sweet “Lovin’ You”. I’m definitely getting a piece of this action because he’s chucked in some of my all-time old school faves, Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It” and Bell Biv DeVoe’s “Poison”.

FabricLive 39 hits the UK shelves on 14 April, (FabricFirst members get a crack on 7 April), but US fans will have to wait ’til 13 May.

In the meantime, the lovely folks at Fabric have sent us Yoda’s FabricLive.39 Radio Mix to whet our appetites. Pretty cool eh? Different songs, same amazing dj. Enjoy !
