One of my all time favorite tunes heard at pretty much all the mad house and rave parties I attended back in the day, has to be Paul Johnson’s “Feel My M.F. Bass“. Any dj that dropped this track meant some serious business – and when it was pitched up, destruction would ensue. The fact that Acid Girls kicks off their No Love Lost Records mix with it, is a good indication where this mix is headed – straight to REPEAT!!!!
Fantastically infectious and smooth, Acid Girls deliver a mix that achieves wonderful things with some spectacular gems and a minimal feel. Get to listening and be sure to catch Acid Girls and Trash Menagerie in Chicago for our debut party ‘TAXIDERMY‘ Thursday, 26th June!!!!!
“Sun baked duo ACID GIRLS provide us with mixtape number three this week, a gorgeous, subterranean march to the very epicenter of feet trembling techno and next wave tribal house. Mixed with an exquisite sixth sense of what fuels a combustible dance floor, ACID GIRLS wring every potential second of sweat from their hour long session for NO LOVE LOST. These boys were clearly born with Berlin in their blood.
ACID GIRLS are currently working on a plethora of original productions, suggesting big things for this pair of concrete cocoon beat carpenters.” – Lee, NLLR
Known to wreak extreme havoc, tearing the roof off everywhere they go and consistently playing bass heavy records – sometimes breaking out jungle classics, Tomb Crew, are showin up and reppin it hard!!!! The boys have smashed it with their latest mix for No Love Lost Records, featuring a little bit of Wiley, DTL, Rusko, Hostage, Tubbs, Dizzee, even A Tribe Called Quest. This one is massive!!!! Check ‘em out at their blogggggg whitekidsgotdrama and their MySpace for more mixes!!!!
“London’s rising stars, TOMB CREW, bring the noise and no mistake. Their bottomless box of Dubstep, Grime, Fidget, Drum N Bass and Bmore is borderline madness and a formidable dance floor beast in their very capable tag-teaming DJ hands. At their recent New York debut, the crew had an admittedly tall-order when they had to follow an insanely tight and well received set by the mighty RUSKO, but within fifteen minutes they had skillfully reduced a roomful of Funktion One shaken music lovers to sweaty, smiling puddles. Their mix for No Love Lost perfectly captures their über finger-on-the-pulse sound, minus their machine gun tongued live MC, B.B. MANIK. Get out there and see TOMB CREW in person if you can, it’s not difficult to catch them somewhere as they apparently don’t know how to take a night off.” – Lee, NLLR

Resident Dj, co-promoter of Lincoln club night Moda and Andy George’s partner in crime, Jaymo, has unleashed his No Love Lost Records mix!! With a recent Radio 1 Essential mix recorded live with partner Andy George, the two have been poised for a serious take over!!! Regarding his latest NLLR mix, Jaymo says “I’ll warn you now, this is not a club mix!!… 25 tracks, 1 hour & lots of styles- iPod fodder of the highest order!!”
Check Jaymo’s MySpace for upcoming gigs and be sure to check Andy George’s NLLR Mix which was posted a few weeks back. Also, I’m following this one up with their superb, highly talked about Essential mix!! Get ready!!!!
“JAYMO and fellow MODA cohort ANDY GEORGE are two of the most exciting upcoming DJ’s in the U.K. at the moment. Their recent BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix alongside a championing KISSY SELL OUT stands as one of the year’s best, thus far. For his exclusive No Love Lost mix JAYMO layers warm summer vibes like a seasoned White Isle wizard, a blissful club salad of upbeat Electro, House and Fidget that will definitely have you daydreaming of sunnier places.” – Lee, NLLR
Hailing from the West coast of France and part of the Valerie Collective, Anoraak’s sound is best described as dreamy 80’s, synth-inspired, disco pop. Along with creating intense textured beats, Anoraak also adds his superb vocals to such tracks as “Nightdrive With You“. I’ve posted this ace remix by Grum earlier today, so be sure to grab it here. Have a listen as Anoraak bestows his talents upon No Love Lost Records for the 60th in the ongoing mix tape project series! Enjoy!!
“Question, how much glowing synth and filtered Disco House can you cram into sixty minutes? I have absolutely no idea, but I know a man in Nantes, France who does, nom de guerre, ANORAAK. The most well-known member of neon art collective VALERIE, ANORAAK makes the most authentic 80s rhythms this side of 1987. Finding inspiration in videogames, film scores, Prog Rock, toys and TV shows of the era, ANORAAK creates rich dance music that borrows heavily from yesteryear, yet succeeds in creating something entirely fresh. Bookended perfectly with classic “Ready Let’s Go” by atmospheric beat pioneers BOARDS OF CANADA, ANORAAK’S mix includes a handful of fine exclusives including GRUM’S remix of ANORAAK original “Nightdrive With You.” Also in the mix, tunes by a legion of likeminded artists, PARALELLS, THE OUTRUNNERS, MINTEL ROSE, COLLEGE, FUTURECOP!, ADAYHAWKE, PONYPONYRUNRUN, CUT COPY to name a few. If you enjoy the refreshing sound that ANORAAK and company are purveying in this mix, you would do well to check out the bilingual VALERIE blog where you can learn more about their roster of artists and get your hands on a lot more of the music they like.” – Lee, NLLR

Sometime within the past few weeks, Lee from No Love Lost Records, mentioned he was expecting a mixtape from Ottawa selectors, DJ Booth & Chameleonic aka JOKERS OF THE SCENE. I was beyond ELATED! Ya done good son! Well here it is and to say that it is glorious, would be an understatement!! They’ve gone and dropped a BOMB with this one, previewing tracks from their latest single, Acid Bagg. If you’ve been feeling jaded in any way about the state of dance music, well this mix is sure to wake you the fuck up!!
“DJ Booth and Chameleonic (aka: JOKERS OF THE SCENE) of Ottawa, Canada are very busy lads, in no short order they have, run a club night which during its successful five year run played host to top folks like DIPLO, MSTRKRFT, GIRL TALK, CRYSTAL CASTLES and CSS, have officially remixed BONDE DO ROLE, BRODINSKI, DJ BLAQSTARR, DANDI WIND, TITTSWORTH, DESTROY DISCO, MUSCLES, SOUTH RAKKAS CREW and KID KUDI, have released an arsenal of top notch original productions on label du jour, FOOL’S GOLD and now they’ve kindly done an exclusive mix for The Mixtape Project. An explosive hour of deep Electro-Tech, Fidget and buzzing Progressive, the highlight of this extremely well selected and professional mix has to be the appropriately named “Baggy Bottom Boys,” a red-hot JOKERS OF THE SCENE exclusive that exudes early 90s rave era happiness from its every beat and pore. By the end of the summer, “Baggy Bottom Boys” along with similarly superb and inspired “White Knight Two” by SURKIN will likely be responsible for putting more smiles on clubbers faces than any other dance tunes this year. We are very happy indeed to have JOKERS OF THE SCENE in the mix for No Love Lost, be sure to visit their MySpace and say, hello! Enjoy the mix.” – Lee, NLLR

With all the music that keeps getting backlogged, we clearly need a few more worker elves!! This time round I’ll leave it to Lee of No Love Lost Records to do the talking as he introduces the forty third NLLR mixtape! This one comes from a Mancunian that goes by the name of Heavyfeet.
“Rolling in with the forty-third exclusive No Love Lost mixtape are the very talented HEAVYFEET of Manchester, England. Ably fidgeting and carving their way across twenty-four exquisite slabs of classy Garage, bass laden Niche and undulating Bassline, HEAVYFEET showcase to the uninitiated and familiar alike that they can wobble the low end as smoothly as any heavy bass specialist you care to mention. There are way too many choice cuts in their mix to highlight, but keep your ears peeled for tracks by NLLR favourites like SAWTOOTH SUCKA, HIJACK, RICO TUBBS, KRAAK & SMAAK and HEAVYFEET themselves, who check in with two original killer productions and a fresh remix.
Okay, on with the mix. Enjoy and as always share the love with our guest DJ via their MySpace.” — Lee

I’ve been a very BAD blogger lately. People constantly send us great music, including close friends and I’ve been to lazy and busy to do anything about it. Well this marks a new beginning for me blogwise. One of my good friends, crew member, and amazing producer and DJ, The Lady Foursquare, had sent us this this fantastically different and eclectic mix eons ago from No Love Lost Records esteemed mix series, which i am only now getting around to posting. My favorite thing about this mix (besides all the excellent music and mellifluous mixing) is the hilarious and unnecessarily long intro starring someone (I know who he is but won’t tell) who refers to himself as pappa-san.

NLLR – “GRUM is one of our absolute favorite new artists. No Love Lost Records likes GRUM so much in fact that we will be releasing an EP of his material later this summer. But alas, I am here to introduce the stunning and exclusive hour long mix the man has put together for our free Mixtape Project. Fresh, upbeat and mixed to airtight perfection, GRUM’s mix takes in twenty tracks that clearly inspire or stand-up perfectly alongside his own productions and remixes. You’ll find six original GRUM tunes and two remixes in the mix, including the brand new remix he just completed of REVOLTE’s “Ironical Sexism.” Euro synthesizer goodness and analogue squelch literally avalanche from almost every second of the mix and No Love Lost is happy to see tunes by newcomers SIDECHAINS from Spain and ANORAAK from France also making welcome appearances. GRUM’s mix is pure digital sunshine and we are over the moon that he is now a member of the No Love Lost Records family!”
The No Love Lost Records Project is relentless!!!! You can expect to see about 8+ more Dj mixes storming through on the Trash site in the coming weeks cause pretty much every Dj is on it, or about to be!!!! Watch this space though, because we’ve got some surprises in store!!
We all know I’m a huge fan of Hostage – He’s got bass in his blood and that old school ravey kick about his sound that he tosses into his tracks and mixes. There is some interesting bleepy shit going on at about 45:13 and loads of hoover’s and sirens to make you feel like there’s an air raid going on! If you missed it the first time, do make sure to check out the last feature I did, Eat Disco and Hostage Devour the Kids, a collaboratory effort between one of the U.K.’s newest, finest nights with the EatDisco boys, which Hostage has guest Dj’d for. You can also grab 2 of Alan’s latest, “Oh Snap!! - Bill Cosby Sweater (Hostage Remix)” and “Big Wheeze”, which have both been blowing up everywhere!!!

Yet another fantastic bass heavy mix off the No Love Lost Records Mixtape Project series. This one coming from Bushwick, Brooklyn’s DJ/producer AC Slater. Don’t worry, he looks nothing like the horribly tan, extra beefy, character off the 90’s show, “Saved by the Bell!” What you’ll get is a whole lotta bassline with some solid remixes, a slew of great tracks and a Jeff Spicoli intro – “Make up your mind duude! Is he gunna shit or is he gunna kill us?!” Influenced by early 90’s hip hop and some old school rave music, this mix is sure to cause some dancefloor (or bedroom) madness!!!!
