Minitek - NYC’s First Electronic Music Festival

!MINITEK FESTIVAL!

M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Tiefschwarz, that’s all I have to say. Have they ever vs. each other before?

Oh, and please see if Kraftwerk are available to play, it could potentially turn this already stellar festival into a full blown techno riot

Just a slice of some of the artists booked to play . . .

Richie Hawtin, M.A.N.D.Y.vs Tiefschwarz, Francois K, Audion, Konrad Black, Audiofly, Paco Osuna, Guido Schneider, Magda, Marco Corola, Troy Pierce, Heidi, Butane, Bill Patrick, Adultnapper . . . the list goes on, visit www.minitekfestival.com for the full line up, and stay tuned as more artists are being added to the line up. Also check out what they’ve got going on in the Innovation Pavillion, dare I say I might spend more time in there than anywhere else . . . they had me at interactive multi-touch user interface.

The secret has finally been lifted…

Minitek is to take place at one of New York’s most prized landmarks: the one and only Coney Island. The wide open space next to Astroland Park will be transformed into a beautiful festival site with two open air stages by the famous Wonderwheel, creating a magical atmosphere on Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14, 2008.

Due to major redevelopment plans, minitek will most likely be the last festival taking place in Coney Island. The minitek team chose the historic location to show out-of-town attendees two very diverse sides of New York City, contrasting from the night location at Midtown Manhattan’s Penn Plaza. The festival site is located between the Boardwalk, the beach and the Cyclone roller coaster, and is easily accessible by public transportation.

And this isn’t the only exciting news being revealed…

Francois K, one of New York’s electronic music legends and widely considered one of the forefathers of house music, has been announced as minitek’s latest addition to the line-up and will be closing one of the two festival stages on Sunday evening, September 14th. The minitek crew considers it an honor to have an artist as deeply rooted in New York’s music history as Francois K supporting the first edition of the festival.

You can check out all the information at www.minitekfestival.com and stay tuned for more information.

TROUBLE & BASS VI w/ DUBCHILD, BOK BOK + MANARA - JUNE 27!!

T&BDubchild

Your favorite crew and ours, Trouble & Bass are back for their monthly bass rager at LOVE, Friday 27th June, with guests Dubchild and Bok Bok & Manara!! They will also be celebrating their latest release on the T&B label alongside Palms Out to bring you Math Head “Turn The Music Up” 12″ – out now!

“On the last Friday of the month, Trouble & Bass crew gathers together for their monthly smash down at Club Love. This month, they will be presenting Dubchild with his first US Appearance. If you try and find Dubchild on the internet, you may come across his myspace or a blurb here or there on dubstep forums, but most importantly you’ll come across information on his slew of remixes and original works for Dubstep heavyweight Caspa’s record abel; Storming Productions, as well as Rossi B and Luca’s Bass frenzy label, Heavy Artillery, all based in the UK. Dubchild has been producing grime, 4×4, bassline house and anything with totally heavy bass for over 5 years now. He’s pretty much one of the most unsung heroes in the dubstep/bassline scene.

Dubchild stems from a musical background of reggae/dub, hip-hop, house, and drum & bass anything with a pulse and a touch of soul. Dub child started producing from the age of eleven and has not stopped since he started producing hip-hop which was and still is his main love of music; he began his musical journey on an Amiga 500 which gave him the necessary tools to enhance his production skills. After a while dub child moved on to P.C format using cubase and an akai sampler, he was then introduced to the world of u.k/speed garage which he automatically took to it wasnt long until local drum & bass outlet Formation Records took an interest in his style of production where he released singles such as ‘Time 2 Bump’, ‘The March’ and ‘Grime Time’ on their sister label 100% and DJ Lombardos label; Fragile Beats, which all sold out.

Gaining respect from the club and radio djs such as Jda flex (BBC 1xtra), Ras Kwame, Annie Mac (radio1) his production style was stamped as different and futuristic. He was noted as one of the baddest unrealised artists to hit the scene gaining top chart reviews from a number of DJs and DJ magazines. Dubchild was then approached by label owner Quiet Storm of Storming Productions where he released such bullets as ‘Voodoo’, ‘Roll Dat Shit’, ‘Take Me’ and ‘Psychopath’, which has been played across most radio stations from underground to commercial such as Rinse FM, Kiss FM, Galaxy FM, Radio1, and Radio 1xtra. The scene grows bigger and bigger each day.

From the UK, Bok Bok & Manara host and DJ a party called Night Slugs, which is basically a good equivalent to what Trouble & Bass is in the US, having similar guest DJ’s and rocking the same sounds
