2009 BONNAROO MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL DATES ANNOUNCED JUNE 11 - 14

Superfly Productions and A.C. Entertainment are proud to announce the dates for the eighth annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. Confirmed to take place June 11 - 14, 2009, the four-day festival will once again be held on the same beautiful, 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee, 60 miles southeast of Nashville.

Ticket pre-sales for the festival will begin on December 4, 2008 and go through December 31st.

These tickets will be specially priced ticket levels available exclusively for early purchase. VIP tickets will also be available during this time. In an unprecedented move, during our holiday pre-sale, general admission tickets will be available as well for five (5) payments of $50.00 plus applicable fees through our payment plan. To promote the pre-sale, Bonnaroo and comedian Lewis Black worked together to create a hilariously manic Crazy-Eddie inspired video.

Lewis Black Bonnaroo video

Consistently and successfully looking for ways to improve the festival each year, Bonnaroo’s eighth promises to build on the triumphs of the previous seven in every way. From its music programming to the non-music attractions, activities and art, the promoters are already hard at work adding new and exciting elements to create yet another legendary weekend. Since it’s inception in 2002, the festival has evolved into an incomparable multi-faceted entertainment experience, swiftly earning its status as the country’s premier music and arts event.

The festival has served as a launching pad for such popular artists as Norah Jones, Jack Johnson, Robert Randolph, My Morning Jacket, Ray Lamontagne, Matisyahu, and many others. A creative and cultural mega-success, Bonnaroo has also featured a staggeringly diverse range of world-class acts such as Bob Dylan, Metallica, Neil Young, Radiohead, Willie Nelson, The Police, Pearl Jam, Tom Petty, Tool, Wilco, The Dave Matthews Band, James Brown, The White Stripes, The Dead, Regina Spektor, Widespread Panic, Death Cab For Cutie, Elvis Costello, Amadou and Mariam, Beck, Against Me!, The Black Crowes, Alison Krauss, Bright Eyes, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Earle, Jurassic 5, Modest Mouse, The Mars Volta, Common, Burning Spear, the Flaming Lips, among so many others.

The festival is also starting to make quite an impact on the comedy industry as well, as it has featured some of today’s best comedians working today. From Chris Rock, Lewis Black, Flight of the Concords, David Cross and Fred Armisen to Jim Norton, Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis, Janeane Garofalo and Brian Posehn, Bonnaroo is considered to be an essential play in any comedian’s touring plans.

This is an artist-driven music conference.
This is five days of workshops, panels, listening sessions, and keynote presentations about music, culture, and creativity.
This is exploding our ideas about how music is created, from cultural to practical production.

FILM POP

Our fifth year promises to be the best yet, featuring our usual selection of quality
shorts and features garnered from innumerable international submissions.

Old Favorites and New Horizons

This is a year of old favorites revisited and new horizons realized without
compromising the underground spirit that is the POP legacy. Making Music
with the NFB returns to sponsor a masterclass taught by the legendary music
documentarian Jem Cohen, who has worked with the likes of Patti Smith and
Fugazi.

FILM POP is a MUSIC FILM festival!

This year’s films have a stronger music focus than ever before. Whether it’s
Wizard rock inspired by Harry Potter or the under-appreciated genius of Arthur
Russell-FILM POP has it covered. In addition to ‘Wild Combination: A
Portrait of Arthur Russell’ and ‘We are Wizards’ we will be screening a
fascinating documentary about Robert Moog and Eileen Yaghoobian’s ‘Died
Young Stayed Pretty’-a radical film about the politics and aesthetics of North
American poster art. We are proud to present an outstanding array of short films
as well, including court 13 productions’ ‘Glory at Sea’-winner of the Wholphin
Award at South by Southwest 2008, and the first film effort from Saskatoon
based artist Amelie Atkins, ‘Three Minute Miracle’.

Not to be Missed!
Our special events will include what promises to be a gorgeous evening
showcasing Vincent Moon of La Blogotheque’s Concerts Pour Emporter
(takeaway shows) and a crazy night of all things Rockabilly at the Montreal
premier of ‘Rockabilly 514′. We have tons more killer programming up our
metaphorical sleeves, as well as a party or two that you won’t want to miss.
These are just the teasers, so leave your antennas up to receive more details as
we send them out over the airwaves.

N.A.M.E. festival 2008 - Edition n° 4 - France

Le Name Festival 2008

It’s that time again - le NAME, the festival I love to love. Le Name Festival takes place in the north of France and is an electronic music and multimedia showcase, organised by Art Point M and funded by Conseil General Departement du Nord. I went last year and even though I ventured by myself and not being able to speak any French, managed to have a fucking fantastic time.

The events are well attended by local people - by day, there’s art installations and events all over the city and then by night, the festival blossoms into a well curated rave party with stunning visuals and an enviable line up that makes you wonder why our own countries don’t see dance music as a cultural commodity.

This year’s programme takes place from Thursday 18th September - Saturday 11th October, with day events sprawled across Lille and Dunkerque, including photography, film, performance, video, multimedia exhibitions, graphic art, planetarium, music technology masterclasses and roundtable philosophy discussions.

The DJ & VJ line up, as always, is pretty mega. Check it. This year’s programming casts a quite wider net than previous years, pulling in artists from Brooklyn, Barcelona, London, Germany, France, etc.

Minitek - NYC’s First Electronic Music Festival

!MINITEK FESTIVAL!

M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Tiefschwarz, that’s all I have to say. Have they ever vs. each other before?

Oh, and please see if Kraftwerk are available to play, it could potentially turn this already stellar festival into a full blown techno riot

Just a slice of some of the artists booked to play . . .

Richie Hawtin, M.A.N.D.Y.vs Tiefschwarz, Francois K, Audion, Konrad Black, Audiofly, Paco Osuna, Guido Schneider, Magda, Marco Corola, Troy Pierce, Heidi, Butane, Bill Patrick, Adultnapper . . . the list goes on, visit www.minitekfestival.com for the full line up, and stay tuned as more artists are being added to the line up. Also check out what they’ve got going on in the Innovation Pavillion, dare I say I might spend more time in there than anywhere else . . . they had me at interactive multi-touch user interface.

The secret has finally been lifted…

Minitek is to take place at one of New York’s most prized landmarks: the one and only Coney Island. The wide open space next to Astroland Park will be transformed into a beautiful festival site with two open air stages by the famous Wonderwheel, creating a magical atmosphere on Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14, 2008.

Due to major redevelopment plans, minitek will most likely be the last festival taking place in Coney Island. The minitek team chose the historic location to show out-of-town attendees two very diverse sides of New York City, contrasting from the night location at Midtown Manhattan’s Penn Plaza. The festival site is located between the Boardwalk, the beach and the Cyclone roller coaster, and is easily accessible by public transportation.

And this isn’t the only exciting news being revealed…

Francois K, one of New York’s electronic music legends and widely considered one of the forefathers of house music, has been announced as minitek’s latest addition to the line-up and will be closing one of the two festival stages on Sunday evening, September 14th. The minitek crew considers it an honor to have an artist as deeply rooted in New York’s music history as Francois K supporting the first edition of the festival.

You can check out all the information at www.minitekfestival.com and stay tuned for more information.

Thanks to minitek sponsors:
