Trash Yourself and The Toxic Avenger – DIE

It’s been a while since we have heard from Trash Yourself, but now the wait is over. They have lovingly provided us with the hardcore track, “Die”, which is a collaboration with the The Toxic Avenger. A little something for you to salivate over.

Personally I love this track, it’s heavy, exhilarating and most of all heart palpatating fun.

Franki Chan signs Futurecop! to iheartcomix

Franki Chan (iheartcomix) has taken on a new role this December: Santa Claus! December 25th via beatport, Franki is releasing the new EP for FUTURECOP! (in a partnership with Southern Fried Records). FUTURECOP! does 80s-ish instrumental sounds and Franki says that he’s super pumped about this release. The tracks they’re releasing are the stuff people dream of remixing…

Franki’s newest iheartcomix signee is sounding promising because not only is he known to have great taste (with Heartsrevolution on his label and recently completing a tour with Toxic Avenger), but he’s also known to throw some bangin’ parties… especially, in my memories, at SXSW every year in Austin, TX. Last year I have the distinct memory of being on a rooftop garage jamming out to Spankrock at his party.

The FUTURECOP! EP is releasing everywhere on Jan. 29, 2009 and the latest tour dates are 1/23 in NY and 1/24 in LA thus far.

Boxon’s bastard French child – Synch Records

Julien Minet and his crew are quite possibly in the top 2% of most productive people in France. In addition to running Boxon Records (Tom Deluxx, Toxic Avenger, DilemN, Elcier, etc.) and working on the new EP they have coming out in January, he’s also started a Tech-House genre sub-label called Synch Records.

Already supported by Technasia, Renato Cohen, and Jack de Marseille, Boomka “EP” is the first release of Synch Records. It shows four tracks from Dj/producer Finzy, resident of the club “Le 4 Sans” in Bordeaux (France).

Julien is sharing with all you lovelies a track from this release called “Hi Derrick!” which is really quite danceable, fun, and definitely reminiscent of old school drug filled nights in ginormous clubs with loud music and free flowing cash money. It’s something that would make for a great Saturday night party or a sweet drive.

The whole album is available for download on itunes.

TRASH MENAGERIE SEPTEMBER RECAP

This is what Trash Menagerie was throwing down during the month of September. Features, interviews, parties, and plenty’a mix and MP3 download. We’re snuggling in for the busy month of October. Have you started thinking about your Halloween costume yet? We’re looking for ideas, so please hit us up and let us know if you’ve got any. Last year we gave you a heads up on how to MAKE YOUR OWN DAFT PUNK COSTUME. Hipster Runoff offered up a bit of inspiration, “WTF SHOULD I B 4 ALL HALLOW’S EVE”, But is it “ok” to be a Justice this year, if you were a Daft last year?

A truly scary option, the United States Vice Presidential Republican
Candidate
and current Governor of AlaskaSarah Palin.
Sarah Palin Halloween Viking
Hmm, I guess she didn’t get understand the memo regarding last year’s Halloween Party. It was a Nordic theme. Looks like she still won anyway, even though she didn’t really come close to qualifying.

Sarah Palin 7 Months Preggers “I can hide my belly in a sexy, yet sophisticated, little black business suit.”

Goodness, her belly is HUGE, she looks like she’s going to pop any day now, right?

This is what Demi Moore looked like when she was seven months preggers . . .

Sarah Palin’s Witch Doctor . . .

Other potential options – “Sarah Palin Mayor of Meth”, “Sarah Palin Miss Alaska”, “Sarah Palin Soccer Mom”. Wow, and to think, the election isn’t even over yet, we’ve still got a few weeks to go . . . goodness, i’m sure we’ll have so many more choices to choose from. Maybe i’ll pull off one of those “couple costumes,” and we can go together as “Foreign Palin Policy“. One of us will be Russia, and the other Alaska, and we’ll stand on opposite sides of the room and say “I can see ya over there, behave yourself!”

New Madlib Album & J Rocc Podcast on Stones Throw

MF DOOM
MF Doom photo credit: XXL Magazine

The new Madlib record is due to drop week, its been eagerly anticipated by many, on a couple of tracks, he collaborated with MF Doom – identity unknown, because he wears a mask, yo. Mind you, he was wearing a mask before Toxic Avenger and these other various electro guys. Why do artists wear masks? Are they superhero’s or evil villains? Are they hiding? Or making an artistic statement? I suppose they each have their own reasons. Me personally, I would not wear a mask, Especially if you’re DJ’ing, one, it would get really hot under there, and two, it would be really difficult to see the knobs and sliders on the mixer. (Or the keys on your I-Pod or computer.)

Madlib also collabed with J Rocc on the record, and J Rocc just did a new podcast for Stones Throw, you can check out here – J Rocc Podcast.

the BOX is ON

Who doesn’t enjoy a good Bordeaux, especially when it comes to music? Boxon Records is Julien Minet’s dirty sexy record label out of Bordeaux, France that features prominent music artists (Tom Deluxx, Eclier, Toxic Avenger, Philipe de Boyer, Pro7, etc), and the incredible graphic designer Anem.

If you like teeth grinding, head banging, body shaking electro-trash music then this next one is for you. Coming out in late September, I had a sneak peak at the new Boxon album and it is fanfreakintastic. There are two separate and distinctive mixes of Tom Deluxx’sMushion Heroes” on here and they are both pure goodness. Who are the faces behind them?

First is Philipe de Boyar, the Suisse DJ/Producer who does a mixture of House/Electro/Breaks. He’s not a newbie to the scene, having already had tracks popping up in MIXMAG and is set to have releases on Erase Records, Hammarskjoeld Records or his own digital imprint Rockville Music as well as other labels. His version of “Mushion Hereos” is slap-in-your-face hard and reminiscent of the same energy you get with the Toxic Avenger.

The other version is by Pro7, an international party player who has already tricked with the likes of Sebastian, Teenage Bad Girl, TTC, and more. His version is very slightly lighter than the de Boyar one, with a little funky feel. Caution: these two tracks are not at all to be confused with each other, even if they stem from the same original! They are completely different takes and both quite enjoyable. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear them both pounding in clubs in the next 2-3 months.

Also from Boxon as of late, the latest video from Paris production company Born To Film of the Toxic Avenger’s “Bad Girls Need Love, Too”. It captures perfectly the style of Toxic — edgy electro with a rock feel. Tattooed ladies and Lolita like nymphs are in the video rocking out in this beautifully shot video clip with amazing color saturation. C’est tellement sexy et j’adore!

In other news, Boxon veteran Tom Deluxx has a new EP coming out this October, and I’m on the edge of my seat to hear it, especially if it sounds anything like the remix he sent us, “Fake” by GRS Club, who also have an EP arriving this October!

Putain c’est la classe! Anem is doing the artwork for the album. Including the fresh preview up top Boxon sent us!

Ladytron – ‘Ghosts’ – Toxic Avenger/Modwheelmood Remixes

Ladytron - Ghosts - Toxic Avenger and Modwheelmood Remixes

Just in case you are not aware of the delectable Ladytron I have decided to do this rather lovely post about them!

This sharp electro tarnished foursome originally hail from Liverpool UK and are now in the midst of touring their new album Velocifero around Europe, which will be followed by a whistle stop tour around Australia and then back to Europe for seconds! Phew they are busy…..

Anyway if you haven’t checked them out before, please listen to the haunting tune (pardon the pun) that is ‘Ghosts’ its spookily addictive.

Oh and to give you an extra dollop of Ladytron goodness we also have delish ‘Ghosts’ remixes by Toxic Avenger and a chilled-out dreamy remix from Modwheelmood.

ADO!

ado

The much hyped ranks of hard electro continue to swell with fresh talent eager to join the brigadiers of the new noise (see: BOYS NOIZE, SEBASTIAN, JUSTICE, THE BLOODY BEETROOTS, THE TOXIC AVENGER, CHARLIE FANCLUB, LILLICA LIBERTINE, THE PROXY, CHEWY CHOCOLATE COOKIES, BUSY P, FELIX CARTAL et al) who continue to purvey their head-banging dance music to an increasingly evangelical congregation of binary head-bangers. One such new talent seeking to preach the hard electro gospel is 23 year old Adrian Glen, aka ADO! of Dundee, Scotland.

Sighting the release of the seminal PRODIGY album “Music For The Jilted Generation” in 1995 as probably the single most important influence on his musical tastes, Adrian has been in hardcore music making mode ever since. He got his hands on his first pair of decks at age 16, blagged a loan to get his first laptop at 21 and now 2 years later the first clutch of raucous ADO! atom bombs are ready to drop and they are nothing short of incendiary.

But, the proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say, so sample on us the living dead stomp of “Ctrl*Alt*Defeat” and serrated disco ball miasma of “Shit Talking DJ’s“, both available for download below. Currently back in his sweatbox home studio slaving away on more ADO! carnage, this August Adrian will also launch ‘Ctrl*Alt*Defeat‘ the club night at Dundee’s Reading Rooms. When asked who he’d most like to collaborate with Adrian mentioned those BLOODY BEETROOTS, so if you’re listening boys…
