Chin Up!

Rochelle’s “Chin Up” has gotten the remix treatment by 2 of the U.K.’s rising stars, Moda resident and Radio 1 Dj, Andy George and one half of Partyshank, A1 Bassline. Released this past 13th April on Planet Clique, “Chin Up” is big electro pop, that’s perfect for the clubs. A1 Bassline injects his signature feet stomping, wobbly bass and Andy George will make you bounce with his gritty rework. The Andy George Dub version has been blogged for the past few months, but it’s one of those tunes that slipped by and I never got around to posting.

A1 Bassline Works It Out

I’m suffering from a flooded in box. It’s a given for those that are trying to hold a music blog down. It was inevitable that the ’see music in inbox! download! be first to post!’ mentality, would eventually come to a crashing end. Real work vs blog work? Never!

In the past few months, there have been several artists I’ve not had the chance to really rave about, namely Essex-born Christian Sibthorpe, known to many as A1 Bassline. His style is perfectly described by NME as “a mash up of bass line house with grime, post new rave and ‘ardcore nostalgia and hyperactive toyshop electro.” And it wouldn’t be too far off the mark to say that A1 Bassline could be dubbed one of 2009’s breakthrough artists.

His debut release, “Girl Thing”, on Meal Deal in 2008, garnered loads of attention, crawling all over the internet, and rinsed out by Annie Mac and Rob Da Bank. His most recent remix of Rochelle’s “Chin Up”, premiered on Pete Tong’s BBC radio show, and “We Love Pussy”, has been played aplenty by Kissy Sell Out. Jaymo and Andy George have also given support to A1 Bassline’s remix of raucous duo, Yo Majesty’s, “Club Action”, which saw an official release on Domino. Yeah, things have been manic ’round his parts.

Though I’m keen on most all of A1 Bassline’s tracks, I’m totally smitten with his fun remix of Esser’s “Work It Out”. Something about this track reminds me of The Ones, “Flawless”. It gives me that same happy feeling, captured on the white isle of Ibiza. Perfect energy that will keep your feet moving long into the night. Feel yourself sinking further on the dancefloor with the dubstep, bassline, 8-bit smasher, “Lucky Charms”, produced with Kavsrave. But wait! You’re not leaving yet, not until you get your bounce and crunk on to A1 Bassline’s remix of Heavyfeet’s, “We Gettin Crunk”. At this rate, you’ll be up into the wee hours listening to these wonky, feel good sounds.

When you find yourself itching for more A1 Bassline the following day, check in on the official A1 Bassline blog and download some tunes! Proclaim your love for bassline by sporting an A1 Bassline tshirt, ‘I like It When The Bass Comes In!’ Erhm. Soon, you can have your own party at home! Look out for upcoming remixes for The Virgins, Little Boots and more. If you haven’t gotten your fill, put your headset back on and listen to A1 Bassline’s mix from June 08 on Trash Menagerie, then read all about him over at You Can Call Me Pelski.

3 Little Words EP – Frankmusik

Croydon born singer/producer, Vincent Frank aka Frankmusik, seems to have the perfect formula for creating stand out pop music. With a growing squadron of unwavering devotees (myself included), and music aficionados in a fervor over his music, Frankmusik is quickly soaring and taking things to the next level. His recent EP release, ‘3 Little Words‘, out 10th November on Island is just a peek at what’s to come from his full-length co-produced by Stuart Price, due out in March 2009.

3 Little Words‘ features remixes by Paper Faces (Stuart Price), L Vis 1990 and Black Strobe. What you won’t find on the EP is the fantastic remix by another favorite, A1 Bassline. In true Christian Shank fashion, he brings the bass. I’ve hardly touched on Frankmusik and there’s a load of great things pouring out of the 22 year old, so do yourself a favor and pay The Heaths of Hornton a visit, where you’re sure to find many surprises!
