Waer Rock – Fullstep

Architectural rendering by Zaha Hadid

Harking back to Winter here in Seattle is like trying to remember the long dull headache from Chinese water torture. I did manage however to put together a mix of dark and tangled Drone and Dubstep to heal my drenched Seattle mind and was graced with the re-up from one of my favorite corners of the blog-world. That haunt is called Culture System, run by Mike “Waer Rock” Steyels and is indeed haunted by crooked basslines and gnarled Dubstep, much of it from the Brooklyn area where Mike works for a local publication called BushwickBK.

Besides Culture System always offering new artists and sounds from the world of bass, Waer Rock shapes some of the most dynamic mixes around. From Classical to Hip-Hop Waer Rock isn’t afraid to merge seemingly disparate sounds to offer new ideas and sonic pallets. The mix offered to you today is a more focused project for Waer Rock and I think does the best job at capturing the most exciting iterations of Dubstep and Future Bass to hit the internets in the last few months. Artists like Distal, Mite, Scuba, CRST, and Marcus Visionary all make appearances here, coming together for a truly explosive mix. Be sure to keep tabs with Culture System and I’m pleased to share a mix with the blog-world that doesn’t have Dubbel Dutch on it.
