You won’t have to search too hard to find the hype surrounding this one. Angie Stone’s soulful, powerful, piece ‘Wish I didn’t miss you‘ is set as the foundation. Cut incredibly by Gatto Viola to it’s most playful lyrics and diva moans, and slightly stripped of it’s emotional depth (which I promise not to complain about!) Doc Daneeka transforms the tune once more, giving the drums a rolling funky-like encasement. The end result is a powerful one.
With that being said, there has been a bit of confusion over this tune’s origin. While making it’s rounds in 2009, and being awarded “remix/mashup of the year” on Gilles Peterson’s worldwide winners show, it has become widely known to most as the ‘Angie Stone Doc Daneeka edit’. As I stated earlier, the tune was cut by Gatto Viola, with additional drum editing done by Doc Daneeka. Doc Daneeka wants to neutralize any misconceptions about this track. So, I’m here to give credit where credits due. Here’s the track properly labeled. No shade. Enjoy this exclusive club curb stomp, y’all!
