“This Journey” Cunei4m: In the mix

Recently, I was invited on a journey. A journey encompassing some of the freshest sounds in contemporary dance music. A journey being led by Delaware based Scott Serota.

Much like Bill Bixby hitchhiking to another adventure, Scott Serota, (otherwise known as, Cunei4m), mild-mannered and unassuming, transforms into a virtual beast on the turntables (albeit without the green skin and ripped shorts). Born and raised in Texas, he has since relocated to the central location of Delaware with easy access to DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and NYC and armed with 10+ years of DJ-ing under his belt. Appropriately titled, “This Journey,” this latest mix covers that long road (I-95?) and offers up a representation of his prowess and versatility by showcasing heavy, percussive tracks which seamlessly coexist alongside newer UK Funky, bashment, house, Baltimore club and garage.

“I wanted to figure out a way to play all of these newer, exciting sounds but still be able to draw a reference back to my roots in R&B, house, and garage.”

It seems as if this kid has done it. All of the reference points are visible and work together to create a whole which is much larger than the sum of its parts. Look for more in the future from him because, if this is any indication, he’s got his finger on the pulse and is ready to control a dance floor near you.
