Unit.One Presents: “A TiNy Mix”
As hubs go, Unit.One has made one of the most compelling efforts to unite the forces of underground heavy bass music in the U.S. and abroad. Arising out of Dallas with a strong UK Garage/2-step surge in early 2000, the Unit One family has grown to New York City where Unit One co-founder Thanyen Nguyen (TiNy) is one of the hardest working promoters on the island. Continuing the tradition of the UK Garage/Bassline MC and now behind the 1’s and 2’s, Tiny has put together a high-energy mix of Old Skool, Bassilne, and Dubstep that chronicles the origins of the Unit One movement and forecasts their current musical interests as well.
For residents of Dallas, TX and New York City, NY, readers can check out the Broken Teeth parties that occur in both cities. New York’s weekly Broken Teeth party has featured such artists as Dev79, Star Eyes, Matt Shadetek, Morsy, Krames, and Jubilee. The party is hosted by Tiny himself, as well as Flamin’ Hotz’ DJ/producer Pharoah (of Todosantos) and his associate Ferola. A recent podcast series has been produced by Tiny, and features live recordings of past parties as well as mixes from Broken Teeth residents. Each mix is extremely eclectic and always awash in bass.
