Taliesin – Heavy Sick Mix

Summer 2009 seems to be the Summer of mixes, not jams. And certainly it’s mix season for Dutty Artz associate Taliesin, as he has shot 3 out of the proverbial cannon in just 3 weeks. It must be lonely in Budapest. The first of the series is Dubstep tour called “Definitely Maybe” for the Portland, Oregon bassed (oops) website PDX-in-Dub, where Monkeytek and Ryan Organ promote their unprecedented Westcoast party “Various.” Propped up by the Portland label “Lo Dubs” the Portland Dubstep climate is a rich one, welcoming Kode9 to the decks at the end of July and our friend Taliesin in August. Mix #2 from Taliesin is entitled “Batture” and was mixed for the Chicago-based blog “It’s After the End of the World” and features a blunted and introspective mix of Southern Rap with a slow bass burn in the undercurrent.
Mix 3 entitled “Heavy Sick” is here for your listening pleasure and was done for the Budapest-based blog Ghetto Bazaar, pushing that heavy global bass sound and enlisting ambassadors like Taliesin that get hype on Mavado remixes and El Guincho. Approaching this collection of tunes from the dancefloor POV, this is by far one of Taliesin’s swiftest mixes, with a pace that globetrots as fast as U.S. foreign investment. And when this Dutty Artz hopeful travels the globe as fast as his mixes, we’ll say we told you so.
