CLUB VORTEX – NGUZUNGUZU & TOTAL FREEDOM

When you’re out celebrating your lives this weekend make sure to swing by Glasslands on Friday July 10th to celebrate Kingdom’s life as he celebrates his birthday with a special edition of Club Vortex. But if you don’t know Kingdom you may feel more cause to celebrate his music. The New York producer has officially been snatched by A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold Records for release of Kingdom’s song “Mind Reader,” featuring the singer Shyvonne, as well as his tune “You.”
Flown out for the festivities will be L.A. hopefuls Nguzunguzu (yes, that’s spelled correctly), and Total Freedom, whose party “Wildness” is described by former Wildness guest Jace Clayton (DJ/Rupture) as “fun dancing mayhem.” Where 808 drum machine hits are distributed with anarchical disregard and bass is only outmatched by rhythm, these guys will give New York Tropical a run for its money. And if you need a small, sweaty, steam-filled window with which to peel through, Nguzunguzu and Total Freedom have put together a free-form tracklist-less mix of vinyl, live vocals, drum machines and Ableton concrete together to give a special edition of the Club Vortex mixes.
Post-Script: If you are unable to make it to Glasslands on Friday, Nguzunguzu will be opening for the Dutty Artz family at “Que Bajo!?”, alongside Uproot Andy, Geko Jones, and Chief Boima of Ghetto Bassquake fame. Arriba!
