DZ Remixes Major Lazer “Hold The Line”

The much hyped “Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do” album, produced by Major Lazer, the alterpersona of Switch and Diplo, is chock-full of everything one might hear at their favorite island party – dancehall, dubstep, reggae, soca, raggamuffin, aggro punk, autotune, surf guitar, air horns and much more. If you’re unfamiliar, Major Lazer, is “a Jamaican commando who lost his arm in a secret zombie war in 1984. He supposedly fights vampires and various monsters, parties hard, and has a rocket powered skateboard.” Hard not to like a guy that shoots lasers out of his arm. I’m also a huge fan of the video…who isn’t??
Guns may not offer up much to the dancehall purists, but revels in the glory of being fun, infectious and brings the guests in droves; Santigold (seems decades ago when I featured her as Santogold), Mr. Lexx, Ms. Things, Nina Sky, Ricky Blaze, Amanda Blank, Mr. Evil, Mapei and more. There have been no shortage in the remix arena of lead single “Hold The Line” feat. Mr. Lex & Santigold. One that I particularly like is that of Canadian dubstep producer, Sean Harten aka DZ, whose numerous stellar productions, “Down’, “Dirt Rave”, “How We Do”, “Drop Top”, and remixes, Jokers of the Scene “Baggy Bottom Boys”, Chase & Status “Eastern Jam” (DZ’s Bootleggin’), Crookers featuring Wiley & TJ – “Businessman” (DZ remix)’, have the people sayin nothin but big tings!
Keep watch of 2 new labels, showcasing DZ’s sound and other up and coming North American artists at Badman Press and Badman Digital. Added in an older remix that I couldn’t get enough of – JOTS, “Baggy Bottom Boys” (DZ Ravestep Remix).
