This mix is the result of two things: 1) Some motherfucking cold-ass Budapest, Hungary weather and 2) Daydreaming of New York tropical Summer’s and the parties that go along with them. And to no great surprise these parties are thrown by people like Taliesin and his Dutty Artz crew. Namely, at a party called, wait, “New York Tropical“: hosted by Dutty Artz family Matt Shadetek, Geko Jones, and Uproot Andy. Previous guests have included: DJ/Rupture, Bunny Rabbit, Esau Mwamwaya, as well as Trash Menagerie interviewee Kingdom.
Also featured here in the past is Mr. Taliesin with his genre-bursting bass journeys through most of the Western hemisphere. Traditionally, his mixes have been live one-takes, made good by their raw unbridled forays into uncharted rhythmic territory. While some find these adventures to be too rocky, they’re nonetheless masterful in their song selection and attention to detail. His talents are now taking him on a short tour through the UK at the beginning of Summer and will be prefaced by an Ableton aided mix of dirty Dutty Artz bass-staples like Dancehall, Southern Rap, Dubstep, Cumbia, and even a sprinkle of wobbly Electro. Catch Taliesin across the pond this Summer and stay locked to the Dutty Artz collective and their ever elusive globetrotting.
