Tanz / Tanz make you dance

Tanz / Tanz are a duo from Geneva who produce massive bangers with heavy, heavy basslines, chopped up vocals, and crazy breaks. While genres are a tricky thing nowadays anyways, Tanz / Tanz really defy any classification. Call it tech house, call it trance, call it fidget, call it wobble rave. It’s all in there, it’s all good!

They sent me their remix of “Ulla”, a track by Fiji, a band that hails from Switzerland too. The tune is more mellow than you might expect from the description above.

Fiji – Ulla (Tanz / Tanz Remix)

Next is this monster. Can you listen to this sitting down?

Tanz / Tanz – Vromba

Check out Tanz / Tanz on their myspace.

A lot of Swiss on this blog these days. But that’s not because of a Swiss bias, this is quality stuff!

WILDLIFE! remixes The Dø

You know how they say: barking dogs don’t bite. I guess the same goes for hyenas. WILDLIFE! from Swiss capital Berne has been howling wildly lately with his remixes of Radioclit’s “Secousse” and ace work for Terry Lynn. He’s established something like a residency at Berne’s new and exciting club Bonsoir to which he’s invited Jamtech Foundation, DJ Beware, Schlachthofbronx, and many others to play with him.

Nice as he is, Samuel sent over this remix he did for french/finnish duo The Dø. Can’t get enough of this beautiful mixture of tweaked, bleepy pop, pumping bass and… damn, I don’t know what to call this. I just like it. A lot.

The Dø – On My Shoulders (WILDLIFE! Remix)

Check out WILDLIFE! on his myspace and make sure to go see him live with Terry Lynn in Germany and London soon!

Cécile & Venice: Baroque strikes back

Baroque is back! Cécile and Venice, both from Italy, have teamed up to create electronic music with a touch of Baroque style and synth strings. The music of Rondò Veneziano had a big influence on these guys as well as movie soundtracks like Goblin‘s score for “La via della droga“.

Cécile first received some bigger attention when the guys from Valerie expressed their love for this beautiful project back in January. Carlo from Cécile sent over these two brand new songs that we are proud to pass on to you, our beloved readers. First, here’s “Requiem”, which starts of slowly but then keeps on growing. Really haunting!

“White Holes” is more mellow with a very appealing bassline. Just beautiful.

Cécile & Venice – Requiem

Cécile & Venice – White Holes

Cécile and Venice are already working on a third track, which should be equally brilliant as it’s going to be “a pink floydish version of ‘White Holes’!” Meet Cécile on Myspace here, Venice can be found here. If you live in Italy or Spain, catch Cécile at a gig in Milano, Rome, Barcelona (Sonar!) or in Berlin! Venice is currently also available for DJ bookings.

Looking forward to hearing more from you soon!
