I’m pleased to introduce a brand new feature here on Trash Menagerie called “Trash In the Bassment.” Recorded at the end of the month in my basement, I will bring you a live one-take of my favorite songs of that month. Featured in the mix will be a collection of songs I’ve posted here on the website, songs I’ve downloaded from other great blogs, as well as songs I’ve purchased. Not only are tunes fun when they’re free, they can only continue to be fun when you pay for them.

The intention behind the live nature of this mix is to go back to the days of yore when mixes were done live and the true art of the DJ was his/her improvisation as well as their sensitivity to the essence of the crowd. Obviously the crowd extends no further than me, myself, and I, but while I don’t have a crowd’s energy to feed off of, I do get rowdy behind the decks.

Also, this mix is of course a reflection of my own tastes as a writer/DJ, not Trash Menagerie in its entirety, or its contributors.

So with out further ado, I offer you Volume 1, Episode 1, Mix 1, in a fine one-take fashion, with black Technics 1210 MK-2s, a Pioneer DJM 400, and Traktor ScratchPro. Enjoy.
