Bok Bok Vice Mix

If I had frequent flyer miles to any European city, I wouldn’t chose an ugly, dark, rain-stricken city like London. Recently, Dubstep has morphed that sentiment somewhat, but I’d still prefer Dublin where it’s green and the Dubstep is still deep. Now, in the last 3 weeks, Bok Bok and his Nightslugs party with L-Vis 1990 has truly distorted that statement, making me want to take out high-interest loans despite the economy, just so I can see Kode 9 wreck an optimistic Nightslugs crowd on January 30th. Until then though, I’ll just revisit the Nightslugs mix for Fact Magazine in December, and now this dynamic set curated by Vice Magazine and done live by Bok Bok himself.
The mix spans Bok Bok’s interest in UK Funky, previews upcoming Curses! material, and if that wasn’t enough he puts some of his own work on display as well. Coming in at a digestible 30 minutes, this mix is not only a rarity in its live format, but puts a spotlight on new faces in bass music, with one of these being Bok Bok himself. If he and L-Vis weren’t fit to take over my 2009 life, I might have to move to Budapest, where at least girls come out to Dubstep shows.
