Uproot Andy – La Vida Vale La Pena

via Dutty Artz
“Vale La Pena” is translated (roughly) to “life is pain.” More of a colloquial phrase, this is used as the Spanish version of the Latin “Carpe Dieme,” or “Seize the Day.” Uproot Andy, featured here this Fall with his New York Tropical mix “Guacharaca Migration,” translates this notion more viscerally in his music.
Released earlier this week at Turntable Lab and on Bersas Discos fourth compilation 12″ is Uproot Andy’s song “El Botellon.” Influenced heavily by Latin and Reggae music, Uproot has comprised a series of releases that reflect a growing direction in dance music, that of synthesis. Of the moment and always close to the pulse of world’s urban dance culture, Uproot is an exciting force rising in the New York scene.
Below you’ll find his tune “La Via Vale La Pena,” and on Monday’s you’ll find him at Rose Live, in Williamsburg for his night “Que Bajo.” And, we couldn’t agree more with the title.
