Meet Emynd

When Mad Decent released the South Rakkas CrewMad Again” EP, they had the blogsphere and dj’s going nuts for the remixes. The one remix that stood out the most was one by EMYND, with its triggerman samples and girls chanting “get mad” it was exactly what the track was labeled, New Orleans bounce*(please read bottom of the page for Emynd official statement on the remix). This wasn’t released on the vinyl record but is available on itunes and on turntable lab digital site, here.

So who the hell is Emynd??? If you don’t already know then it’s time to learn.

Emynd is not a new face to club music or the dj world at all. His productions credits range from traditional Underground Rap to New Orleans Bounce to Baltimore Club to Philly Party Music to Disco edits of Indy Rock songs to House to Freestyle to WHATEVER. And chances are if you’ve seen Diplo, Scottie B, Blaqstarr, DJ Sega, Annie Mac, Stretch Armstrong, DJ Ayres, Nick Catchdubs, Sinden, or Bird Peterson you’ve heard a couple of his songs in their sets.

Check out his latest mix here.

It doesn’t stop here the guy knows how to throw a great party. With his friends Dan the Swede and Bo Bliz they did a party called “White Tees, White Belts” and it was one of Philly’s finest. With guests performances at the party include Diplo, Low Budget, Scottie B, Blaqstarr, Freeway, Beanie Sigel, and Peedi Crack amongst others.

Coincidently, Emynd released a 12″ EP on Flamin Hotz with Dj partner Bo Bliz called “The White Ts & White Belts EP”. It was so very well received that it was on turntable labs top 10 list and even had times when it was so in demand that it was sold out! For high quality mp3s of this release visit here.

He has a TON of stuff coming out real soon; another record with Bo Bliz on Flamin Hotz with a lot of BaltimoreClub/Philly Party Music. A solo record with a variety of stuff: more New Orleans Bounce, more Philly Party Music, and hopefully some tracks with some big name Philly artists. He’s talking to Shawn Caesar and Scottie B about doing some stuff with Unruly Records this summer, and he’s scheduling gigs all over the globe as we speak.

South Rakkas Crew – Mad Again (Emynds More on the Floor Remix)

*a note from Emynd;
Just as a sidenote regarding my “Mad Again (NOLA Bounce Remix)” that I feel necessary to make clear anytime anyone posts about it on the internet, I made a very significant effort to keep it as tradtionally NOLA BOUNCE as possible. Even though I’m not from New Orleans and have had very little interaction with Bounce culture, I felt that making this remix would be a good way for me to hopefully make some people interested in the New Orleans Bounce music that I’ve grown to love over the past couple years. In order to do this with some level of self-respect in tact and to attempt to avoid the cultural imperiliaism I often find myself rallying against, I made a very clear and deliberate effort to make this remix a blatant IMITATION of my favorite Bounce artists and produceers. Not only did I sample the New Orleans Bounce staples (the Triggerman bells, Triggerman breaks, the “WHO!” and the “Alright!” from The Showboys “Drag Rap” as well as the “Rock the Beat”/”Brown Beat” drum break), but I also very deliberatley sampled vocals from Gotty Boi Chris, Dime Gyrl Drell, and De Ja Vu, and imitated the production styles of my favorite Bounce producers: Blaza, Peacachoo, Blaqnmild (aka Blaq Biggi Blaq), and Took. If you’re at all into my Bounce remix, I highly suggest you visit the linked myspace pages above and purchase some of that AUTHENTIC New Orleans Bounce music. Big shouts to Mr.604 as well.
