“The music I create is an updated take on the space disco and synth music I love from the past, like the band SpAce (with Didier Marouani), Klaus Schulze, and other early pioneers”, says Washington DC-based Triobelisk, a man who clearly embraces all things synth, droid and disco.
Listening to Triobelisk’s music, one may feel as though they should be living on a space ship, orbiting the planets above. Like the much loved Valerie Collective from the West coast of France, Triobelisk has a special place in his heart for sounds that travel back to the 80′s that create a universe of multi-layered synths, with drum machine samples and complex sounds.
With one foot in the past and one in the future, Triobelisk has been creating music since the early 90′s when he was in a post-punk band called ‘Frodus’. Years later, he developed an obsession with 8-bit and Ableton. “The stuff is constantly expanding and I’ve been bringing in some 8-bit sounds here and there on newer songs like “Skyrealms“, in an attempt to slowly write a ‘space opera’ album”, says Triobelisk.
His recent March debut EP, “Zoneplex“, on the Swedish Columbia imprint, is loaded with excellent tracks that are sure to expand the mind. “Xrystal City”, “Zoneplex”, “Zardoz”, “Hiram’s Key” and “Explosion”, will not only alter your senses, they just may transport you to another dimension.
Stay posted for more Triobelisk as he has just created a synth-heavy remix for Sunny Day Sets Fire (I AM SOUND Records) and is planning to take his material to a live electronic set with some uncommon MIDI controllers. Listen to the superb “Xrystal“, a remix of it by Dmerit and the newest track “Skyrealms“. Looking forward to hearing more and thanks to Swedish Columbia for tossing this our way!!
