Idiotbox’s Supermodel - The Remixes featuring Sam Hell

Take a perfectly good progressively-acid house tune, drop it in the hands of a couple of electro house DJ/producers and what do you get?
Itchy complusive electro house and some damn good remixes.
So what are we starting with? Idiotbox’s original “Supermodel” is an angry musak version of Kraftwerk’s 1978 hit “Das Model”, underpinned with an insistent, driving house beat.
Drop in 4 remixes….
1) Chicago electro-house producers Paul Anthony and ZXX put a whole big electro shine on to that mofo. But is it filthy enough? Maybe.
2) Onionz give us a softer, more tribal house spin, with that ‘chill-out’ vibe about it.
3) Simon Baff’s version is like what NFL would play as their theme tune if football actually declared itself a gay sport - the remix teases out the original “Das Model” chorus (”She’s a model and she’s looking good”) to a “Copacabana” synth. Perfect.
4) Last but not least is UK’s Northern breaks darling Sam Hell unleashing his inner electro-house diva. Nice. Sam Hell is not afraid to straddle the fence, a dichotomy his label Sinister Recordings is well aware of and accepts.
