The Lowbrows Rise
It seems only a mere few months that we’ve been at it with Trash Menagerie, but it’s shaping up to be a full on year come this March! One month into our start in April 07, the explosive Japanese trash duo The Lowbrows were on our radar. Since then, Chaki and Emi have continued playing the spectacular ‘Linda’ party, producing music and working on their first album.
With a recent interview due out around March/April by the influential British culture magazine Dazed and Confused, it seems the boys are getting the attention they deserve! Come the weekend, they’ll be playing the Chelsea Hotel in Shibuya, Japan, for the SO SWEET/SHADOWSCENE/BLOWUP L.A. JAPAN tour, organized by Eli Smith, of So Sweet Records. For those fortunate to attend the Osaka event, they’ve revealed their secret guest, Shinichi Osawa!! Very nice to see this L.A./Japan mix up!! Hope to see a lot more of this crossover happening and perhaps some Japanese artists in the states!!
The Lowbrows “Dream in the Desert”, reminds me of the music one might hear in an old Japanese movie, with its unique sound and vocals. Their track “Melody And Shudder”, was recently remixed by Tokyo Dj’s Maar and Daruma of Dexpistols, which will be featured on the Dexpistols first CD, Lessen 4. Really like what they’ve done with the remix!! All around fantastic goodness!!
