Molly Shannon, Molly Shannon – Bianca Montale

Molly Shannon, Molly Shannon just now happened in the awful, awful winter of 2007 and 2008, via attrition, paranoia and a small Colorado label called Fir Traders Union kind enough to release their album. You Think Yr The Doctor, I Think I’m The Sheriff is the freshman album from MSMS and has been described as experimental and unpredictable but always in the right place. MSMS is Michael Donovan and Christopher Newton, recording, writing, making and switching. When building an entire body, Joseph Martin, Erin Phillips and Scott Thiessen complete the action-live and otherwise–bowing, clicking, banging, and strumming.

Stanley Kubrick would love this band. Complex and alluring, a template for the avant garde. Each song a woman’s name, and the connection is just as remote. Awesome.

Fir Traders Union already sold out of the album “You Think Yr The Dr , I think I’m The Sheriff” to my despair, but perhaps their will be a repress soon? Please?

FEB 11 UPDATE!

I have news, “DOC & SHERIFF” is i fact avail for sale, and stream, on the MSMS myspace, I just ordered their CD last night (at 4 AM, after listening to them via their Myspace profile repeatedly) so I suggest you get them before they are snatched up again – now go!
Molly Shannon, Molly Shannon myspace I trust you too, will fall in love.

And I felt like throwing in this just because Annalee is sweet, so is her voice, so is the band, and so is this song . . . and Paul, if you’re reading this, do you have a cigarette?!?!

    1. Kanye West feat. Daft Punk, “Stronger”
Last night, Kanye lost his third Album of the Year Grammy — but at least Daft Punk got to be on TV! [Asian Dan]

    2. DJ Schmolli, “Funky Kommissar”
DJ Schmolli just released the least-asked-for album of all time (a record of Falco mash-ups) — and here’s a track from it! [Culture Bully]

    3. Molly Shannon, Molly Shannon, “Bianca Montale”
If you’ve ever dreamed of listening to Sunset Rubdown and Interpol at the same time, today just might be your lucky day. [Trash Menagerie]

    4. Sean Garrett feat. Ludacris, “Grippin’ on the Bed”
Sean Garrett is the latest producer to pick up a mike. We hope he puts it back down! [Mixtape Maestro]

Presumably named for beer, fried cheese, or polka, What Made Milwaukee Famous are back with their second record. If they sound like Spoon, it’s because Spoon’s drummer produced some tracks. [Obscure Sound]
