Sidechains - A Barrage From Barcelona
I love Barcelona. I’d have to say it’s one of my favorite places on earth. It has an unmatched attitude towards expression and the arts and couples that with the laid back Spanish demeanor and the beautiful urban architecture. From this description alone you would think that there is an endless stream of amazing dance music flowing endlessly through its city streets. Well it seems to me that this wasn’t the case at all until recently, at least in our niche corner of the musical universe, when suddenly, we started hearing multiple electro artists springing up from the depths. It began for Trash Menagerie with the robot pop band Mendetz, followed by the gentlemen from Buffet Libre, both of whom we have posted about a couple of times, and now, a producer that, in my opinion, is the best electro to emerge from Spain so far, Sidechains.
His moniker is obviously quite tongue-in-cheek but, at the same time, it highlights the fact that he has really been the first non-frenchy to capture that early french house disco sound and integrate it into the blog house electro sound. Looks like disco will be big in Spain in ‘08. Sidechains has been kind enough to provide us with four, count em, four unbelievably diverse tunes that really makes apparent his obvious influences as well as his good-timey, disco funk sound. “Turn Your Body On” has to be my fave, so much so, that I was motivated to do a remix of it myself which I have also provided for you. So sit back, listen and disco down.

heyy rupert, sidechains are going to be huge, really good sound. so i ended up starting my own blog - lindsaylovesme.blogspot.com. im the dude with the pipe dream of writing a post on outputmessage. i finally got it together and it should be up there within a coupla days. bernard is really cool and provided not only 2 remixes, but an unreleased side project track he did last week, as well as a mix. what a guy. i got a couple other things comin’ up too. hope you’re doing well - i saw a picture of you at the teenagers show (think it was you) which i didn’t make cos i had a cold, blast!
