I’ve vowed this winter to keep my rear-end firmly planted on the colder shores of England but there’s something about the dark unfriendly winter nights that makes the lure of a hot minimalist all-nighter in the chilled out city of Lille, only a 2-hour skip away by Eurostar, just too inviting.
French festival organizers Art Point M and electronic music magazine Tsugi have joined forces to host SURNAME, an electronic music rave on Saturday 23rd February at Tripostal in Lille (France), with the party going on til 6am. With a fun lineup and solid party track record, I’m there faster than you can say Carnival season.
My love affair with Art Point M began 2 years ago on a ship in Dunkerque and enticed me to the Le Name Festival in Roubaix/Lille last summer. Over the past few years, Art Point M have been masterminding some mind-blowing line-ups for their festivals and parties – check out the 2006 lineup if you don’t believe me. Not satisfied with hosting one festival a year, they are intent at satiating the Northern France and Belgium dance aficionados with parties throughout the year.
ItaloBoyz similarly leave the English coast to headline for the night. Expect the two Italian DJs to treat latest clubbers with their latest releases: “Zinga” EP (Get Physical) and “Viktor Casanova” (Mothership).
Kollektiv Turmstrasse are Hamburg/Lübeck electronic musicians Nico Plagemann and Christian Hilscher who are taking time from their totally bonkers year to play a live set.
Berlin-based minimalist maestros James Flavour and Break 3000, co-owners of Dirt Crew Recordings, are playing a DJ set. The duo recently celebrated having their album “Raw” gracing Mix Mag’s Top 50 Albums 0f 2007.
Topped and tailed with DJ sets from APM001 residents and visuals from French and Belgian TRiii VJs.
