Who In The Octopus Project Encountered a Flourescent Squid?

Anyone in the US that caught Simian Mobile Disco on tour, also got treated to The Octopus Project.
Unless, you got caught up in some pre-game action, and showed up to the venue late. Luckily I made it on time, but to be completely truthful, was not as focused as I should have been on the performance. There was this whole annoying social ritual I had to go through – drinking with my friends at the bar. So low and behold, a few weeks after the show, I’m all over the album, and kicking myself for not being a good listener to begin with. (My teacher warned me about this in kindergarten, you think I would have got it by now.)
“I Saw The Bright Shinies” is a track off TOP’s album Hello Avalanche. I tend to have an over active imagination at times, and I would like to think that this song was written by someone in the band, swimming in the ocean, and having an encounter with a ginormous florescent squid. And THAT is when they actually saw, “the bright shinies”. aka THE TENTACLES. This horrifying incident lead to them developing major aqua-phobia - and thus, The Octopus Project was formed, per the suggestion of their shrink, as a way to work though the mental trauma. Hmmmm . . . .I think i’m on to something here. TOP, if you’re ready this, can you confirm or deny? Perhaps we can do a little Q&A for the readers, enquiring minds want to know!
