UK Vinyl Distributor Amato Reported To File For Liquidation
TM has confirmed reports from those in house at Amato, that come next week, they will be closing their doors and filing for liquidation.
Over the years, Amato Distribution has grown to become of the most respected independent distributors in the UK, and across the globe. They oversee well over 100 labels, providing both marketing and distribution services across all genres and formats, including CD, Vinyl, Digital and DVD.
20/20 Vision, Border Community, Bpitch, Crosstown Rebels, Dubsided, Kompakt, Kill The DJ, Playhouse, Poker Flat, Rong, and Stomp, are just a few of they many quality imprints that will be affected by this loss.
FULL LIST OF AMATO DISTRIBUTED LABELS
Amato closing its doors will certainly have a major impact on the global dance music scene. While this news is certainly a shock, its not a surprise. Over the past 4 years, we have seen the demise of distributors Intergroove UK, Venus, Watts, and TRC to name a few. While vinyl sales have increased across the board over the past few years, the growth has come via rock and pop pressings, while dance music sales have taken the hit.
Many of my friends and acquaintances will be struck hard by this loss, my thoughts go out to you, and to the 50 + dedicated Amato employees that have been instrumental in keeping the art of vinyl alive. I had the pleasure of having my label in their capable hands for several years, and have great respect for their work and professionalism. Thank you!
One thing i’ve learned in this every changing industry, is that with loss there is always new opportunity.
