Fake Blood – Straight For The Jugular

Fake Blood Remixes – Black Ghosts, Armand Van Helden, & Bonde do Role.

Most producers get their start tinkering around in the studio – self releasing tracks and edits, but London newcomer Sang, aka Fake Blood (Sang/Fang, get it ; ) went straight for the jugular and bit into some top notch talent. His first remix was for TM fav, Black Ghosts, which lead to a rework of their Southern Fried label mate, Armand Van Helden. When Pedro from Bonde do Role heard how he turned out AVH, he enlisted his sharp studio skills for “Gasolina”. Each chewn, a bass heavy, dance floor success. Sang can suck our blood anytime. So who might be Fake Blood’s next victim? At present, he is taking a break from remixing to work on his own material, which includes a track called “Fake Blood Theme”.

Watch out for this hot producer, coming soon to a dark crowded dance floor near you!

Lillica Libertine Dazzles

Diamond

The weekend is here and what better way to kick it off than with a bit of sparkle and bang to add to your DJ set, or listen to whilst at home tossing your head to and fro?! “Diamonds”, is one in the latest of several masterpieces that Lillica Libertine feverishly creates, and there is more to come from this radical rudecat!!

Lillica has been at it non-stop, staying as busy as a bee, since we featured him in March, Lillica Libertine is Fresh out of Death and The Nottingham Prodigy Returns this past August. November sees some exciting happenings – “Manhunt”, will be released via Place Blanche Records on 12″ vinyl and digital download release, and a limited edition to be released via 679 Records on 12″ clear vinyl! Also, check out “Drill It”, another wicked remix he did for Papa Vito, which can be heard at Papa Vito’s page. I can’t get that female “do do do do do do do do dooooo”, vocal from “Diamonds” out of my head!! x

The New Guard 1yr Anniversary!!!

THE NEW GUARD 1YR ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!!

Time for a little shameless self promotion. This Thursday the 25th, The New Guard turns one year old. What began as a little weekly at a little club aimed at unseating the old guard that has ruled the Chicago club scene for eons. We did our best to bring in acts that have never been invited to or accepted in this fair city and give folks a chance to finally see something new. And here we have ended up, a monthly at the finest club in the land as we bring in a couple of our friends from across the US and England; Deekline, The LA Riots, Treasure Fingers and DJ Annalyze, to celebrate with us and bang it out all night long.

To mark the event, I present you with three tracks from each of our special guests. I’d like to think that each tune really embraces the attitude of The New Guard.

La Scène Est Morte. VIVE LA SCÈNE!!!!!!!!!

The Rapture – The Sound – The Remixes!

The Sound (Max Pask Horror Show Mix)

Ben “Trucker” Rymer, also known as one half of Gucci Soundsystem was enlisted to turn out The Rapture’s original production of “The Sound”, which was released earlier this year on their full length album, “Pieces Of The People We Love”

Ben’s mix starts out with dreamy melodic, pads, paired with arpeggiated “French Kiss” inspired tech tinged beats. The track kicks in with a “back to 95” rave stab that turns the production into a full on banger that’s destined to destroy dance floor. Can’t help but think, Who Is Elvis? And is James Brown in fact Dead?

The Max Pask Horror Show Mix sprinkles in eerie Theremin – esque synth pads, and resurrects the Belgian “New Beat” dance movement from the early 90’s with a Saunderson/Reese “Rock To The Beat” vibe felt throughout. The overdriven Moog baseline is reminiscent of Nitzer Ebb and Front 242.

Throne Of Blood 004 is another quality remix package that is truly representative of what label head James Friedman and The Rapture, as DJ’s are playing in recent sets.

Vinyl drops Nov. 26 via Amato Distribution and is available in all fine record shops.
