Drama Queen

TomDeluxx

We all know someone in our lives that just can’t take things in stride and is quite the DRAMA QUEEN! Apparently so does Tom Deluxx from Bordeau, France who has created this heavily distorted track that will certainly cause some DRAMA!

A member of the impressive group Just a Band, Tom Deluxx has been mixing it up since 1997 and has played with the likes of Boys Noize, Justice, Feadz, Erol Alkan, Busy P, and Sebastian. New material, Ghetto blaster (07 edit), Exelium, The assboxer + 3 remixes, is in the works and set to be released off Boxon Records with super cool graphics by Anem!!

Trash Yourself!

TrashYourself

Trash Yourself have literally been ripping at the seams with new music and building up a nice little buzz. Quite fitting for us I’d say!! The TRASHIER it gets the better! We first caught glance of the new duo through our dear friend The Toxic Avenger (heads up for his month long US tour kicking off Sept 28!!) who collaborated on some tracks with John and Heidi, as well as other notable producers. With their debut album in the works, and Heidi featured in this months Nylon mag, John proclaims, “Lotta trashin going on!!”

Here is a bit of music and some Q&A with John Bourke, done by Trashbags in Australia. Global TRASH UNITE!!!

Kill Hannah – Crazy Angel (John Bourke Remix)

Trashbags: Who have you worked with (artists)?

John: We are currently working on a new song with The Toxic Avenger and a new one with Treasure Fingers. I am also doing some production for Planet of the Drums’ MC Messinian’s new album and I just finished a remix for Chicago’s own, Kill Hannah.

Trashbags: How long has trash yourself been around?

John: As a group, we are very young. I have been producing and DJing for years. We both go to College together in Oklahoma. We met there about 2 years ago. We would meet and talk in the hall and Heidi threw around the idea of wanting to do vocals sometime. Around that time Toxic had sent me a little clip of Song 2 that he started. Heidi came over and we started recording some vocals just to see (more…)

STROBE

Strobe

Strobe lights can often hurt my pretty little eyes, but the Strobe I’m getting hot under the collar about at the moment is the new night at Scala in London!

After a string of many fabulous nights that have literally set my pants on fire with excitement, this night looks set to perhaps outshine them all. With live sets from the likes of Devil’s Gun, Trevor Loveys & Affie Yusuf, The Ghost Frequency (i heart them), Cobra Dukes, The RGBs, Mexican Institute of Sound, and The Clik Clik, it may actually blow your brains out! Well that is if you manage to get a ticket!

DJ sets on the night come in the shape of Cagedbaby, Mock & Toof, Uncle Buck, Crispin Dior & Ben Rymer, Wrongtom, Allez Allez DJs, Tony Poland, Hot Sauce DJs, David H, Player Player, Cred & Paul Crognale. Phew……..I need to sit down and take a breather!!

So if you based in London get your pretty little asses to the Strobe Launch Party this Saturday 22nd September @ Scala, Pentonville Rd, King’s Cross, London. Advance tickets are available from Ticketweb for £8 so go get them before they disappear.

Burton Launches!

BurtonChicago

Okay so I’ve only gone snowboarding a few times in my life, and it hasn’t been recently. As an ex skater, I’ve wished to learn how to properly snowboard without breaking limbs, but alas a torn meniscus in my right knee has kept me away from the thought of gliding down powder hills!! Well I might just sign up for one of Burton’s nifty ‘Learn to Ride’ courses and learn a thing or two this winter!

Meantime, we can all prepare ourselves to look damn cool for the cold season with a little help from Burton. I’ve always loved the Burton brand and everything they’ve been doing since their incarnation. They have finally opened a new shop here in Chicago, and they’ve gone big and given us a 4-story FLAGSHIP!! As the West coast peeps would say, TOTALLY RAD!

Stop in when you’re on the East end of the city at, 56 E. Walton Street, and if you’re up for going out tonight, there is a special party happening at Sound-bar with music by DJ Steve Aoki Kid Millionaire and Pase Rock. Who Knew King Kong Was Doing The “Indielectro” Thing?

He’s taken over Germany, and now he’s coming for you!

Germany’s King Kong Klub, has established itself as the biggest “Indielectro” party taking place over ten clubs/towns. For almost seven years it has been the name on German club goer’s lists when thinking of how to escape their Friday or Saturday night loneliness. After first introducing parties at the Planet in Bochum, head gorilla Christian Vorbau, packed his record bags to enter the country. He moved on to Wuppertal and Berlin soon more cities fell prey to the great ape. That included Dortmund, Cologne, Hamburg, Kiel, Bonn, Munich and Essen. Last year Christian was invited to share his favourite tunes at the Hurricane-Festival and also at the Melt!-Festival, one of Germany’s most exceptional open-air happenings.

Every weekend the King Kong DJs drag their heavy bags packed with vinyl to the hottest clubs all over Germany. Christian, Glamrock_Baby, Happa, Dominik, Potz and Mikey Four (Club NME Resident DJ/London) take care of maximum variety and shaken legs. Those, who are still not satisfied, get their money worth at special events that regularly take place with national and international bands kicking your asses. By the way the great ape is currently the only German Indie party with ten different locations.

King Kong Club primarily plays tunes ranging from Indie and Britpop to Hamburger Schule, Postpunk and New Rave. Additionally King Kong serves his secret favorites and everything else promising fun – Kaiser Chiefs, Maximo Park, The View, Bloc Party, The Pigeon Detectives, Razorlight, Good Shoes, Klaxons or good old friends like Placebo, Morrissey, Blur and many more.
