In Focus: Smudged Lens
Norf Carolina c’mon and raise up! Take yo shirt off, twist it ’round yo head spin it like a hella!(copter). Apparently they hate that song in NC but it doesn’t matter because Petey Pablo is awesome, so they are wrong. Other things that are awesome exist in North Carolina too! In this case, I am referring to In Focus, the newest pseudonym (kind of) for Focus, one half of the now defunct Basic Operations, of immense DnB fame. Dude has had releases on many of the biggest DnB labels out there including Metalheadz, Bingo Beats, and Renegade but now he’s totally geeked about new electro/dance rock/blog house or whatever else you want to call it!! This is a very good thing because, in general, one is hard-pressed to find any quality DJing the scene because DJ’s who play that stuff are technically terrible most of the time*. And Jungle DJs are by and large good and so when they play anything, they usually do it better than most other people. He sent me this mix that demonstrates what i’m talking about:

* I’m not saying that there’re no good new electro DJ’s out there, its just, in my experience, your average DJ in the genre doesnt really know (or care) about matching beats properly, or layering, or timing or key matching or any of the other things that DJs once took seriously.

amen to someone finally saying something about the abundance of shit DJs that are annihilating ear drums out there. it’s like these fucking idiots who have no knowledge of dance music just found the hot new thing and think that because they dress super nu-rave and have access to serato that they’re DJs. Please god give it a fucking rest.. and why the fuck do promoters even book these hacks? fair warning to any and all.. you play at LeDisko and trainwreck i will fucking kick you off in the rudest way possible. promise.
